Mulgrave councillors request presentation from NSP reps

The mayor of the Town of Mulgrave says councillors want to hear from reps with Nova Scotia Power.

Councillors directed their CAO to reach out to NSP reps to arrange a presentation during December’s regular town council meeting Monday night.

After the meeting, Ralph Hadley, Mulgrave’s mayor, told The Hawk they want a debrief from Hurricane Dorian, but they’re more concerned about power outages in the town generally.

“If the wind is going to blow now all the time, our power is going to be out a lot more,” he said. “I was just wondering why they aren’t doing some more studies on a reason why the power is going out in our area a lot.”

Hadley said he understands why power was out for an extended duration during and after Dorian, but they’ve faced extended outages during relatively minor storms since.

He said residents aren’t happy with those outages.

“We’re getting very upset taxpayers- we’re a senior town,” he said. “We have to get to the bottom of the reason why the power is going out a lot here in Mulgrave.”

Hadley said their counterparts in other municipalities have had presentations from NSP reps, and they should get the same.
