Mulgrave‘s mayor says he wants action on a dangerous intersection in the area.
Ralph Hadley says the intersection of Rte. 334 and Hwy. 104 in Aulds Cove is only going to get worse with the winter weather.
The town’s CAO told councillors provincial transportation officials are conducting a traffic study at the intersection during December’s regular town council meeting Monday night.
After the meeting, Hadley told The Hawk they already know the intersection is dangerous.
“I’m wondering why it’s taking so long to get a response back for that,” he said. “If they’re doing a study, it shouldn’t take that long to do.”
Hadley said TIR officials already have evidence trucks turning into the Aulds Cove Big Stop are using the wrong lane.
He said winter is just going to make that worse.
“When the salt and the snow is on the road, the trucks are not going to see that arrow turning in to the Big Stop where they’re supposed to go,” he said. “That’s going to cause a hazard.”
Hadley said reps with the trucker’s association and Irving Oil have both responded to their concerns.
He said association reps promised to tell their members about the intersection, while Irving reps promised to reassess the Big Stop plans to determine if they were done to specifications.
