Antigonish Co. councillors call emergency meeting on deadly intersection

Municipal officials are holding an emergency meeting to discuss ongoing safety concerns with an intersection in Antigonish Co.

A pair of crashes at the intersection of Trunk 4 and Beech Hill Rd. shut down that area to traffic in less than a week- Monday’s three-vehicle crash involving a transport truck left a 41-year-old man from Toronto dead, while Saturday’s two-vehicle crash sent two people to hospital.

Antigonish Co. councillors, who have been pressing their provincial counterparts to address their concerns with the intersection for more than two years, are having an emergency council meeting at 5:30 p.m. Monday.

The meeting, which will be held in council chambers at the municipal office on Beech Hill Rd., is open to members of the public.
