Famous local chocolatier becomes Canadian citizen

A well-known local chocolatier, and former Syrian refugee, has become a Canadian citizen.

Peace by Chocolate owner Tareq Hadhad received his citizenship in a ceremony at Pier 21 in Halifax Wednesday.

Hadhad and his family were forced to immigrate after their chocolate factory in Syria was bombed.

He rebuilt his family business in Antigonish.
