Bernard murder suspect case adjourned

A suspect charged in the Cassidy Bernard case has had his case adjourned.

Dwight Austin Isadore, 20, of Wagmatcook appeared in a packed Port Hawkesbury courtroom, by teleconference from the Northeast Nova Scotia Correctional Facility, Wednesday.

His defense said they needed more time to receive and review the crown’s evidence.

Isadore faces a count of second-degree murder in the death of his ex-girlfriend, as well as two counts of abandoning a child.

Bernard, a 22-year-old mother of infant twins, was found dead in a We’koqma’q home in Oct. 2018; her children were found by her side.

RCMP announced the charges against Isadore in December; he’s been in custody since his arrest.

He’s scheduled for an election-and-plea hearing in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court Feb. 21.
