A new bishop has officially been installed in the Diocese of Antigonish.
Pope Francis has announced the appointment of Bishop Wayne Joseph Kirkpatrick in December; he was formally installed during a ceremony at St. Ninian Cathedral in Antigonish Monday.
Kirkpatrick, 62, is from Ontario where he most recently served as auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Toronto; he replaces Brian Dunn to become Antigonish’s 10th bishop.
Dunn, who served as Antigonish’s bishop since 2010, became the coadjutor archbishop of the Archdiocese of Halifax-Yarmouth in July; he remained Antigonish’s apostolic administrator until Kirkpatrick’s installation ceremony.
