A man facing multiple firearms offences following an incident in Inverness Co. is scheduled to return to court Tuesday.
RCMP say officers were called when someone pointed a gun at a woman and her family members while they were in a vehicle in Port Hood in October.
They say the woman, who knew the man, fled in her vehicle, and the man fired the gun four times into the air as she drove away; no one was hurt.
Police say they went the suspect’s home and contained the area; he tried to leave in a vehicle, but he was stopped and arrested without incident.
They say they seized a loaded shotgun from his back seat.
Jean Francois Houle, 48, was sent to the East Coast Forensic Hospital for an assessment three days after the incident; he’s expected back for election-and-plea in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court after the hearing was adjourned in January.
