Stolen property case adjourned

A suspect in a stolen property case in Inverness Co. is scheduled to return to court in March.

RCMP say they found tools they believed to be stolen in Jan. 2019.

They say officers searched a home on Hwy. 105 in Lexington and seized seven firearms, including a sawed-off 12-gauge shotgun.

Police say they also found power tools, generators, chain saws and other tools.

Shannon Francis MacDonald, 24, was originally charged with possession of property obtained by crime, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorized possession of firearms.

MacDonald, who was released from custody after his arrest, entered not guilty pleas to all of his charges during his first court appearance in the case in March 2019; he changed his plea to guilty on the possession of a prohibited weapon count as his trial was set to get underway in October.

He was expected for sentencing in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court Monday; instead, the hearing was adjourned until March 16.

It was also adjourned in December and January.
