Mulgrave awards management contract following consultation on wastewater plant

The town of Mulgrave has taken two steps forward in the construction of their new wastewater treatment plant.

After Monday’s regular council meeting, Mayor Ralph Hadley said they’ve completed consultation with Paqtnkek Mi’kmaw Nation as required by Infrastructure Canada.

Hadley said that’s allowed them to move forward and choose a project manager, Strait Engineering.

“To oversee the job from start to finish. I’m very excited about that,” he said. “It’s a local company, and they’ve been in that business a long time, and they’re very familiar with how to build a sewer plant.”

Hadley said the town will start work on the site this summer, to get it ready for construction, but a construction firm hasn’t been chosen yet.
