Three impaired drivers caught overnight Saturday

Antigonish RCMP say they arrested 3 drunk drivers over a single night last weekend.

Police responded to a single vehicle accident on Hwy. 7 in Lochaber around 4 p.m. Saturday. The 29-year-old driver was taken to hospital with serious but non-life threating injuries. He was charged with impaired driving offenses.

At 7:30 p.m. police conducted a traffic stop in Frasers Mills after a vehicle failed to dim its headlights. The 30-year-old male driver refused to provide a breath sample. A female passenger attempted to interfere, and both were arrested and held overnight.

After midnight the same night, police received a complaint of an impaired driver leaving StFX. Officers found the 56-year-old man with open liquor, sitting in the driver’s seat of a running vehicle. He was arrested and released the same day.
