Local sports preview (Wednesday)

It’s a quiet night in local sports.

There’s just one game in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

The Cape Breton Eagles visit Pleasant Valley’s Jacob Hudson, Antigonish’s Jake and Sean Stewart, Beaver Meadow’s Ryan MacLellan and the Moncton Wildcats.

The Eagles (40-19-3) have won three straight to sit fourth in the 10-team Eastern Conference with 83 points, a point back of Rimouski for third; the Wildcats (49-13-1) are in top spot in the East with 99 points.

It’s the ninth and final regular season game between the Maritimes Division opponents; Moncton has already clinched the season series, leading 5-3 after the first eight games.

Game time is 7 p.m.
