Canada/US Border Closing

The border between Canada and the US border is being closed to non-essential travel.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says he and US President Donald Trump have mutually agreed to the idea this morning.

Trump confirmed that on Twitter early this morning.

Trudeau says it won’t impact the movement of goods or essential travel.

“In both our countries were encouraging people to stay home. We’re telling our citizens not to visit their neighbours if they don’t absolutely have to. This collaborative and reciprocal measure is an extension of that prudent approach,” says Trudeau.

The closure Trudeau says the border will remain close for as long as it needs to be.

Trump told reporters this morning it could be shut down for 30 days.
