The Warden of Inverness Co. says they’ve gotten a lot of requests from residents to reopen the municipality’s waste transfer station.
Betty Ann MacQuarrie says it was closed to residents as the COVID-19 pandemic ramped up, but now that the spread seems to be declining people are looking to discard waste from their spring cleaning.
After Thursday’s regular council meeting, MacQuarrie told The Hawk they’ve decided to reopen it on a limited basis.
“If you can imagine the lineups that would be there if we just say ‘okay, it’s open,'” she said. “So, we’re going to try and open it incrementally, by appointment.”
MacQuarrie said they’re going slow and steady.
She said that starts with a soft opening for appointments Monday.
