“First Lady of Fiddle Music” laid to rest

A funeral has been held for a well-known Inverness Co. fiddler.

Theresa MacLellan of Riverside passed away Aug. 31; she was 93.

MacLellan, known as the “First Lady of Fiddle Music”, played at the Montreal Olympics in 1976 and for Queen Elizabeth II.

She spent 52 years as the opening act for the Broad Cove Scottish Concert.

MacLellan, her brother Donald and sister Marie formed The MacLellan Trio, performing on various stages throughout Inverness Co. and across the entire region.

She was laid to rest during a service on West Bay Rd. Saturday.
