Antigonish Co.‘s warden says a highly-anticipated roundabout is coming along.
Work to install a new traffic circle at the Beech Hill Rd.-Hwy. 4 intersection started in September.
Warden Owen McCarron previously said the project was expected to be finished by the end of October or early November.
After November’s regular municipal council meeting Monday night, McCarron said the roundabout is getting closer to completion.
“They’re getting the curbing done and the signage put in- I expect within probably a week we’ll see pavement actually go down,” he said. “They’re getting very close, and they’re working along, I’d say, at a very good pace.”
McCarron said the weather has co-operated for the most part, and there haven’t been any significant delays.
He said drivers have been patient during construction.
“I think at this point people understand that it is the cost of doing business,” he said. “I think most people will be very happy once it gets completed and it’s operational.”
McCarron said it’s a big piece of work, and projects sometimes extend longer than anticipated.
