Local groups get share of $2.1 million in arts funding

Seven local arts groups are on the receiving end of a share of $2.1 million in provincial spending.

A release from the Department of Communities, Culture, and Heritage says COVID-19 has devastated the province’s arts communities, with restrictions essentially putting a stop to any kind of arts event.

The one-time grants go to 89 groups to help them weather the pandemic.

The local groups seeing funding:
-Celtic Music Interpertative Centre Society Inverness $ 25,000.00
-Chedabucto Bay Folk Society Guysborough $ 25,000.00
-Counseil des Arts de Cheticamp Inverness $ 14,568.00
-Festival Antigonish Summer Theatre Antigonish $ 35,000.00
-Inverness County Council of the Arts Inverness $ 25,000.00
-Lake Ainslie Weavers & Craft Guild (Scotsville School of Cra Inverness $ 6,000.00
-Societe Mi-Careme Inverness $ 7,258.00
