The Mooseheads (8-9-5), who snapped a two-game losing streak, are second in the six-team Maritimes Division with 21 points, nine points behind Charlottetown for top spot, and a point ahead of third-place Acadie-Bathurst; the Eagles (9-11-0), who had their two-game winning streak snapped, are fourth, two points behind Acadie-Bathurst for third, and four points ahead of fifth-place Saint John.
Halifax has a slight 4-3 edge through the first seven games of the season series between the provincial rivals.
It was the first half of a home-and-home series; the teams meet again in Halifax Friday night.
