The Mooseheads (12-15-7), who snapped a two-game losing streak, move into fourth in the six-team Maritimes Division in terms of points percentage, behind Saint John for third, and ahead of fifth-place Moncton; the Eagles (12-21-1), losers of back-to-back games and five of their last six, are last.
Halifax leads the season series between the provincial rivals 8-6.
It was the first half of a home-and-home series; the teams meet again in Halifax Thursday night.
