No one hurt in Paqtnkek fire

A home in Antigonish Co. has been extensively damaged by fire.

Members of the Pomquet Volunteer Fire Department were called to a home on Petow Loop in the Paqtnkek Mi’kmaw Nation at roughly 3 a.m. Monday.

The home was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived.

Firefighters from the Tracadie Volunteer Fire Department, RCMP and paramedics also responded.

Everyone in the home managed to escape safely; no one was hurt.

Fire crews remained at the scene until 7:30 a.m.
