Unexpected closure at a local ER

A local emergency room is experiencing an unexpected closure.

The Emergency Department at the Victoria County Memorial Hospital closed at 11:30 a.m. Monday.

It’s set to reopen at 7 p.m.

A release from Nova Scotia Health says the closure is due to a lack of nursing coverage.

Officials say anyone with urgent medical needs can still call 911 or go to another ER.
