Former X-Men football players charged with sexual assault expected in court

Two former members of the X-Men football team charged following a sexual assault investigation at StFX are scheduled to return to court Wednesday.

Jonah Williams, 19, of Halifax has been charged with three counts of sexual assault against two different women; Tyler Ball, 18, of Truro faces a single count of sexual assault in the case.

Both are expected for election-and-plea hearings in Antigonish Provincial Court after their cases opened in court in January.

The pair played defensive back for the X-Men- Williams was in the team’s starting line-up, Ball wasn’t.

Neither Williams nor Ball are still with the X-Men football program.

RCMP say an 18-year-old told them she was sexually assaulted on campus in November; that led a 19-year-old to come forward and report two separate cases of sexual assault on campus.
