RCMP looking for ATV driver who fled police

RCMP are searching for an ATV and it’s driver, who they say fled officers after they attempted to stop the vehicle for speeding.

Around midnight on July 17, police patrolling the Cabot Trail saw an ATV barreling down the road toward them.

They turned on the lights and sirens and attempted to stop the driver, who fled.

The ATV took off across a private lawn.

The driver struck a well head and was thrown from the ATV; they remounted and drove off into the woods, leaving only a helmet and some clothing behind.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact Cheticamp RCMP, Crime Stoppers or use the P3 tips app.
