Richmond Liberal: need for healthcare, infrastructure and public green space

The importance of green spaces.

That’s what the Liberal candidate for Richmond’s said has emerged alongside healthcare and infrastructure as a priority after 18 months of pandemic.

Matt Haley said he’s knocked on 2500 doors since he was acclaimed by the riding’s Liberal members May 3rd.

Haley tells the Hawk all these issues have been brought to the forefront by COVID-19.

“The St. Anne Centre in Arichat, where we had two beds to a room and four beds to a washroom… if the pandemic has taught anything, it’s that that can be a dangerous situation,” he said. “I’m excited about the fact that we’re going to see a either a new facility, or a completely redone facility, for St. Anne Centre, over the next five years.”

Haley said the Liberals have already made commitments, as government as well as campaign promises, to help solve those issues.

As well, he said the importance of places to go outside has become crystal clear because of COVID-19.

“We’ve got hiking trails, and things of that nature, but we don’t have too many gathering spaces that are outside and accessible to people,” he said. “We don’t have that many playgrounds and places for our kids to go run around.”

Haley says the Liberals are the ones with a real plan for recovery and pathway back to a balanced budget.
