Local group launches health-care awards

The pandemic has shown the crucial role healthcare workers play in our communities.

That’s why Cape Breton South Recruiting for Health has launched the first ever Community of Care awards.

There are five categories in the inaugural awards, including: Healthy Communities Leader, Mentor Champion, Life-Long Learner, Dedicated Mental Health / Long-Term / Continuing Care Professional, and the Healthcare Hero Award.

There’s also an award to recognize volunteers and one for an innovative business or organization in the medical field.

To qualify, nominees must be working part or full time in healthcare or be a volunteer and be located in Richmond County or Port Hawkesbury.

Nominations are open until Nov. 19; awards will be given out at an event in December.

To make a nomination, you can use electronic nomination form. Hard copy nomination forms can be picked up at the Dr. Kingston Memorial Community Health Centre,
90 School Rd., L’Ardoise, or the Town of Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre, 606 Reeves St., Port Hawkesbury.

Once nominations are closed, the committee will review and determine the winners.
