Battle of the Quad Counties Starts Tonight

A rivalry that’s lasted decades continues tonight at the Antigonish Arena as the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League playoffs round 2 will see the Strait Pirates battle the Antigonish Bulldogs.

Bulldogs Head Coach Donnie Grant expects an intense series.

“Everybody’s excited, even their first year players, they know the rivalry between Antigonish and Port Hawkesbury. It goes back so long that even the regular season games feel like playoff games.” He said.

Grant added that his team is ready for the playoffs but they aren’t getting ahead of themselves.

“You know, we’re not taking anything for granted, not taking anybody lightly. It’s going to be a hard series, we expect that they’re going to have a game plan and we just have to be ready and play our hockey and take care of what we know how to do.”

The Bulldogs finished the regular season on top of the Sid Rowe division with a 20-1-1 record.

The Strait Pirates swept their first round series against the Eagles three straight.

Puck drop is 7:30pm.
