A mountain coaster is coming to Nova Scotia

Up until about an hour ago I had no idea what a mountain coaster was! That has all changed now…. take a look at this thing they’re building at Ski Martock!

It’s a alpine coaster or “Mountain Coaster” the first of it’s kind in Nova Scotia and as far as I can tell the only one east of Ontario!

Here’s what the one in Blue Mountain, Ontario looks like! This one is called the “Ridge Runner”

Riders sit in individual carts that travel along a steel track built into the hillside. A lift pulls the carts up to the top of the run, then gravity takes over for the trip back down. Along the way, riders wind through twists, turns, and banked corners while taking in the scenery. Unlike a traditional roller coaster, riders control their own speed using a hand brake, so the ride can be as thrilling or as relaxed as they want it to be.

For Nova Scotians, it will be a brand-new type of attraction and a way to enjoy Ski Martock even when there’s no snow on the ground!

Not a ton of information is known about our Martock version or when it will open but it looks fun!
