Antigonish basketball player dies in B.C.

A highly-regarded basketball player from the Quad Counties has passed away as the result of a boating mishap.

Andrew Milner was on a trip with a teammate when their canoe capsized in frigid water near Cranbrook, B.C. Tuesday morning; the body of the 19-year-old from Antigonish was found Wednesday morning.

Milner spent two seasons playing U Sports basketball with the Calgary Dinos, who made it to the national final eight in Halifax both years; they won gold in 2018 and silver in 2019.

He was part of the provincial team that won gold at the national U17 basketball championship in Halifax in 2015.
