Antigonish and Guysborough Counties to Benefit from Provincial Public Transit Investment

Public transit in Antigonish and Guysborough County are getting a financial boost.

Today, MLA Michelle Thompson announced an investment from the Houston Government of over $165.000 that will go to the Antigonish Community Transit Society. Thompson says public transportation is necessary for many residents and is happy that the province is making investments in this area.

The Transit Association of Guysborough will receive a total of $15,012. Guysborough-Tracadie MLA Greg Morrow said the investment to enhance local transit is welcome news and it will ensure residents can continue to get to where they need to go with reliable and accessible transit

20 community transit operators and eight fixed route operators will benefit from a $10.9 million investment to offset the fare revenue lost during the pandemic. Including the ones in Antigonish and Guysborough Counties.

These investments for transit services are provided through the province with support from the federal government.
