Antigonish hockey player picked to participate in global female game

A hockey player from the Quad Counties has been selected to represent the province at an upcoming global event.

Mary Beth Brophy will take part in the 2019 IIHF Female Global Game in Calgary.

The 13-year-old from Pleasant Valley plays defence for the Antigonish Bantam “A” Bulldogs.

Two teams from each of the 40 countries involved play a one-hour game Feb. 16; it starts in New Zealand and moves west until the final game in our country.

As one game ends another starts, and the score continues from country to country.

The goal is to connect girls playing hockey and promote female hockey.
