Antigonish man arrested after stabbing

A 41-year-old man faces multiple charges following a stabbing in Antigonish.

RCMP say they were called to a report of a stabbing in the parking lot of a local business near 12:30 p.m. Thursday.

Police say, when officers arrived, they found a 36-year-old man had been stabbed in the stomach after a confrontation with another man, suffering suffered minor injuries.

They say officers found the suspect on West Street, and he was arrested without incident.

Trevor Burns, a 41-year-old man from Antigonish, has been charged with the following:
-Assault with a weapon
-Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
-Fail to comply with conditions

They say the investigation is ongoing.

RCMP say Burns was remanded to the North East Nova Correctional Center and is set to appear in court virtually Friday afternoon.
