Antigonish sidewalk project nears completion

Antigonish’s mayor says a sidewalk project in the town is almost finished.

Laurie Boucher says construction of the new sidewalk on West St. took roughly 4-6 weeks.

She says the $85,000 cost was split between town and StFX officials.

After Monday night’s monthly meeting, Boucher said it’s a great addition to the town.

“It makes a great route from St. Ninian- that you can come all the way around and walk all the way to the lights between the university and James St.,” she says. “We’re excited to have it there, it’s been used constantly.”

Boucher said all that’s left at this point is for workers to put down some new sod in the area.
