An Acadia Axemen hockey player says he made comments that led to a bench-clearing university brawl last weekend.
Rodney Southam says he made a sexual assault comment to a player on StFX during a game against the X-Men on Saturday night.
Southam claims he was unaware that Sam Studnicka, the target of his comment, had a sexual assault survivor in his family.
The brawl led to 15 players and both head coaches being suspended on Wednesday.
