Body recovered from water off Port Hood identified as missing Antigonish Co. man

Human remains found off Inverness Co. have been identified as a missing man from Antigonish Co.

Police say the remains were discovered in the ocean, roughly 10 nautical miles from Port Hood, July 18.

They say members of the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre and RCMP Underwater Recovery Team helped get the body out of the water; it was sent to Dartmouth for an autopsy.

The remains have been identified as Patrick John MacDonald of Ballantyne’s Cove.

MacDonald, 54, went missing in January; his truck was found near the Ballantyne’s Cove wharf shortly after he disappeared.
