Canada Day is nearly here, and Port Hawkesbury has several events planned for anyone to enjoy.
From 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., the town will host children’s games and bouncy castles at the Granville Green, along with music and Jug in hand, Richard Wood, Brenda Stubbert and Allie Bennet, partly sponsored by KitchenFest.
If it rains, the event will move into the Civic Centre, according to the town’s Facebook page.
Canada Day in Antigonish
Antigonish also has events planned throughout the day.
From 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., you can start the day with a pancake breakfast at St. Ninians Place, 121 St. Ninians Street, served by the Antigonish Lions Club, according to the town’s Facebook page.
From 11 a.m. to noon, there’s a sensory hour for people with sensitivities to things like loud noises and big crowds. That happens from 11 a.m. to noon at St. Andrews Jr. School at 2 Appleseed Drive. They will have games for children and activities for the whole family.
In addition to the sensory hour, everyone can visit from 12 to 4 p.m., with an official ceremony and cake-cutting at 2 p.m.
At 7 p.m. on the Columbus Field, 121 Main Street, there’s entertainment on stage.
At 7:35 p.m., the official Columbus Field ceremony starts, along with the volunteer of the year presentations.
At about 10 p.m., you can check out some fireworks, so long as there aren’t burn bans in place.
And the Royal Canadian Air Force’s CP-140 Aurora plane will fly over Clark’s Harbour as part of the Canada Day festivities.
