Thousands of Households Helped by the Canadian Red Cross During Hurricane Fiona Aftermath

The Canadian Red Cross has provided assistance to more than 88,000 Atlantic Canada Households impacted by Hurricane Fiona.

To date, the organization has raised $31 million not including government matching funds for the Hurricane Fiona in Canada Appeal. In addition to providing financial assistance the Red Cross has also provided emergency shelter for more than 1,200 people, supported 40 reception centres in partnership with local authorities, donated more than 5,700 emergency items to impacted individuals and communities, conducted conversations for psychosocial or well-being support, and mobilized more than 520 personnel to support the response.

Discussions are continuing with government officials in all provinces impacted by the storm to determine how the Red Cross may be able to assist with any remaining appeal funds after people with urgent basic needs have been assisted. If funds allow, additional assistance provided by the Red Cross will compliment government programs.

Households affected by the Hurricane have until December 2nd at 5PM to register. You can sign up by calling 1-800-863-6582
