Canyon to run for Conservatives in Central Nova

Conservatives in Central Nova didn’t take long to find a new candidate for the upcoming federal election.

Country singer George Canyon will represent the party in October’s election.

Canyon, who is originally from Pictou Co., planned to run for the Conservatives in Alberta in the 2015 federal election, but withdrew because of what was described as a health scare.

He replaces Roger MacKay, the mayor of Westville who announced he was withdrawing from the race due to personal reasons in a Facebook post Monday night.
