Celtic Colours artistic director says they’ve had a great two weeks of ticket sales

The artistic director of the Celtic Colours International Festival says they sold almost half of the available tickets- and sold out 18 of their 52 shows- on the first day of ticket sales.

Dawn Beaton says those opening-day sales represent more than 2018, but there are still 34 shows with available tickets.

Beaton tells The Hawk they have buyers from home and away.

“We sold an additional 2,000 tickets just on the opening day alone, as compared to (2018), which was already at a pretty high rate,” she says. “At this point, it has traditionally been a pretty even balance for locals and visitors alike.”

Beaton says you shouldn’t be dissuaded from getting tickets just because a few shows have sold out.

She says there are tickets to plenty of shows left.

“There certainly are shows sold out, but I encourage folks- especially our locals here on Cape Breton- to see (what’s remaining),” she says. “There still are shows available, so don’t assume that just because a few shows are sold out that nothing is available.”

Beaton says the box office has been busy since tickets went on sale July 9.

She says she expects it to quiet down at the end of July, then pick up again before the first show in October.
