Celtic Colours remains virtual for another year

Cape Breton’s marquee international festival will be virtual again in 2021.

Celtic Colours International Festival is going online for the second time in as many years, COVID-19 travel restrictions forced the festival to go virtual in 2020 as well.

Organizers say general uncertainty caused by the pandemic, and restrictions on large gatherings and international travel mean the festival must be online this year.

Mike MacSween, Executive Director of the Festival, says they’re well prepared after hosting virtual events and performances in 2020.

“We’ve learned a great deal from our experience in 2020, and we are developing plans to do even more this year,” he says. “We received very positive feedback on last year’s online Festival, and if you enjoyed that, you are undoubtedly going to be enthusiastic about our plans this year.”

Organiser say they’re developing more content for at home viewing, while still livestreaming concerts as they did in 2020.
