Central Nova’s Conservative Candidate says, even though he owns a ranch in Alberta, Pictou Co. is his home.
George Canyon received the nomination for the Conservative Party in Central Nova in August.
Canyon is originally from the area but lived at a ranch Alberta before the nomination.
He tells The Hawk he moved west with his wife years ago.
“She said to me ‘now that you’ve got a break in the business, can we live my dreams?’ And have that horse ranch, with the mountains in the background, that she’s wanted since she was a little girl,” he says. “But in my heart, I never left here.”
He says he is now renting in New Glasgow.
Canyon says he hasn’t met Liberal incumbent Sean Fraser yet, but hears Fraser is a really nice guy.
“Unfortunately,” he says. “He’s on the wrong side.”
The race for the Central Nova seat has a crowded ballot.
There are currently 6 people running: Incumbent Liberal Sean Fraser, NDP Betsy MacDonald, Green Barry Randle, the PPC’s Al Muir, and Canyon for the Conservatives.
