Cheticamp break-in suspect expected back in court in April

A man arrested in connection with several break-and-enters in Inverness Co. has had his case adjourned.

Police say a man broke into businesses three times in January and once in December.

They say he broke into restaurants in Cheticamp and stole alcohol, with one case involving thousands of dollars in damage.

Joseph Maurice Larade, 52, of Cheticamp faces four counts of break-and-enter, four counts of mischief over $5,000, three counts of theft under $5,000, a possession of a break-in instrument count and two breaches.

Larade, who was held in custody following his arrest, was sent for an assessment in January; he was expected for a status update in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court Thursday.

He was sent back into custody until an election-and-plea hearing April 16.
