Confusion about sidewalk tractor for Village of St. Peter’s

Richmond Co.’s warden says there’s some confusion about a grant for the Village of St. Peter’s.

Brian Marchand says they supported a $30, 000 grant for a sidewalk tractor in 2016.

He says the infrastructure grants are 50-cent dollars.

After this week’s county council meeting, Marchand told The Hawk it didn’t appear they spent $60, 000.

“For them to get $30, 000, as the CFO said, they would need to spend $60, 000.” he said. “The problem here is how it all looked- it looked like they only spent $30, 000 because they had a cancelled cheque for $30, 000; in essence, they did spend the $60, 000, they just didn’t spend it all at once.”

Marchand said there’s a two-year limit to acquire those funds.

He said they’re entitled to their money because they have an invoice for over $70, 000.
