The province is putting up $311,000 for craft businesses in Port Hawkesbury.
A release from Invest Nova Scotia says the money will be spent over three years to support the Customs House Artisan Incubator on Granville St.
Invest NS reps say it helps crafters develop businesses to sell the things they make by providing studios, a retail store, and mentorship for the small business owners.
Kyle McPhee, owner of Phee’s Original Goods and one of four residents at the site, says the two years he’s spent there has been transformative.
“My business has grown more than I ever expected,” he says. “I’d highly recommend this incubator program to anyone looking to elevate their craft and join an incredible community of artisans here on Cape Breton island.”
Invest NS reps say the Customs House not only helps the artists, but bolsters Cape Breton’s whole craft sector.
