Delorey joins Liberal leadership race

Randy Delorey, MLA for Antigonish, has officially joined the race for the leadership of the Liberal Party.

Delorey made the announcement in a video posted to Facebook Thursday afternoon, which included endorsements from several MLAs, Cape Breton-Canso’s former MP, Rodger Cuzner, and current MP Mike Kelloway.

He stepped down as Minister of Health and Wellness and Minister of Gaelic Affairs Wednesday.

Delorey is the third candidate to throw his name in for the leadership; former Environment Minister Iain Rankin and former Labour and Advanced Education Minister Labi Kousoulis have also announced their candidacy.

If Delorey wins the contest he will become Premier after the Liberal Party’s leadership convention in February.
