UPD: Man dies in Port Hawkesbury crash

UPD: 1:45 p.m. Nov. 20.

A 48-year-old man, originally from Port Hawkesbury who had been living in Nunavut, has died after an early morning crash in Port Hawkesbury.

Police fire and EHS responded to a report of a single vehicle crash on Reeves St. at 7:30 a.m.

Officers found a car in the ditch alongside the road, the driver and only occupant was pronounced dead at the scene.

Traffic was redirected for several hours while investigators were on the scene. It has since reopened.


Detour in place after accident in Port Hawkesbury

There is a detour in place on Reeves Street coming into Port Hawkesbury, from Port Hastings, due to an accident Saturday morning.

The detour is sending traffic down Granville Street.

Traffic out of of the town isn’t being diverted.

RCMP say officers are expected to be on scene for the next several hours while they investigate.
