Fire fight paused on Mooseland Road amid rainy weather

Firefighters have paused the battle against the Mooseland Road fire in the intense rain for safety reasons.

The aircraft would not be able to fly in these conditions, and it would not be safe to have crews on the ground, either, according to a statement from the Department of Natural Resources around 11 a.m.

However, they say the fire is still being held at about 1,447 hectares, and staff continue to monitor it.

The rain is affecting the fire area on Wednesday, they add, and it will possibly affect it Thursday, as well.

The department has also reopened all closed roads in the area.
