Drug bust suspect expected back in court in January

A man facing charges following a drug bust in Inverness Co. has had his case adjourned.

RCMP say officers seized cocaine during a targeted traffic stop on Granville St. in Port Hawkesbury in August.

They say they also searched the driver’s home, and seized a small amount of marijuana and other evidence.

Jake Curtis Babin, 31, of Port Hawkesbury faces charges of possession of cocaine and marijuana for the purpose of trafficking; he was scheduled for election-and-plea in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court Monday.

Instead, the hearing was adjourned until Jan. 29; it was also adjourned in October and November.

Police say a woman, who was a passenger in the car, was released at the scene.
