East Hants RCMP investigating negligence after elderly man found in transit vehicle

East Hants District RCMP are investigating an incident involving possible negligence after an elderly man was found in medical distress inside a public transit vehicle.

Police say the 81-year-old was reported missing around 10:40 p.m. on June 11. He had last been seen at 3:30 that afternoon when he was picked up outside a residence by a public transit service.

Just before 11 p.m., officers located the man inside a transit vehicle, where he was the only occupant.

He was in medical distress and was taken to hospital by EHS.

RCMP say the investigation is ongoing and involves support from the Colchester County General Investigative Section and the RCMP’s Interview Assistance Team.

Investigators have spoken with several individuals, seized items, and gathered substantial information so far.

No further details are being released at this time.
