A pair of local hospital have temporary weekend emergency department closures.
The ER at the Strait Richmond Hospital in Evanston will be closed for 49 hours, from 7 a.m. Saturday until 8 a.m. Monday.
The Victoria Co. Memorial Hospital‘s emergency department in Baddeck shuts down for 24 hours, from 8 a.m. Saturday until 8 a.m. Sunday; it will also be closed from 4 p.m. Sunday until 8 a.m. Monday.
Provincial health officials say the reason for the closures is a lack of physician coverage.
