UPDATE: Man wounded in isolated Eskasoni shooting

RCMP say they’re investigating an isolated shooting in Eskasoni.

They say officers were called to a home in the community just before 10:30 p.m. Sunday.

Police say a man, 53, suffered non-life-threatening injuries when he was shot through a window of the home.

They say they received a second report of gunfire two hours later, but they investigated and determined it didn’t happen.

In a social media update just before 8 a.m., RCMP said it was an isolated shooting, and they believe there is no longer a risk to members of the public.

Residents had earlier been asked to stay inside with their doors locked while police maintained a heavy presence in the community.

Police say they don’t believe the incident was random, and they continue to try to find the shooter.
