Extra long weekend in Quad Counties

It’s another storm day for local students.

Officials with the Strait Regional Centre for Education have cancelled all classes due to predicted deteriorating weather; all SRCE buildings are closing due to weather conditions at 1 p.m.

Ecole Beau-Port in Arichat, Ecole acadienne de Pomquet and Ecole NDA in Cheticamp, We’koqma’q First Nation School, NSCC Strait Area Campus and Wagmatcook Learning Centre, and Cape Breton-Victoria Regional Centre for Education schools are all closed.

A full list of updated cancellations can be found here.

It’s shaping up to be a messy day in the Quad Counties.

A freezing rain warning is in place for the entire province.

Environment Canada forecasters say we can expect prolonged periods of freezing rain and ice pellets through the day Tuesday.

They say it will eventually change to rain.
